Creating sculptures from books is not a new or unique concept anymore, there are quite a few artists who use books as their medium to create innovative products or illustrations; at times as a marketing campaign as well.
Whats different about Long-Bin Chen's art is that, until and unless you look really closely or get a glimpse of the backside of the sculpture, you will not be able to recognize the material used to create these masterpieces; it seems more like wood or marble work.
