Reading news on my mobile device has always been boring and frustrating to me and to Akshay Kothari and Ankit Gupta as well until they invented Pulse News reader. Their frustration became an inspiration for them and developed the coolest blog/feed reader for iPhone, iPad and Android devices called Pulse News Reader.

Akshay and Ankit, both graduated from Stanford University, are the founders of this elegant news reading app. They together have formed up Alphonso labs which they call  "a wildly creative start-up, revolutionizing the way you read your news on-the-go". Pulse News Reader makes news-reading visually interactive and pleasing even on the smaller screens. Thus, making news-reading more exciting and engaging. It incorporates colorful panning story bars and fills them with feeds from your favorite sources on the smooth interface.

The app lets you add 20 of your favorite sources. If you find an article interesting to read, simply tap on it and two views are ready for you! One, the summary of the article and two, the website on which the article appeared. A small pop-up allows you to check other stories that appeared on that site too. Organizing your sources is very simple. You can add or remove them any time.

If the app is so solid, how can Social Media not participate. You can share the feed within your network via Facebook, Twitter, Email or Instapaper in just two easy taps.

The most interesting feature I found about this app is, it lets you integrate with Google Reader. That means you can directly import all your feeds from Google Reader. The updated version of this app has an improved sync with Google Reader. Pulse also lets you save images directly to your iPad from your favorite sources. The iPad version lets you add 60 sources.

Stay updated even when you've no internet. Take Pulse New Reader for a spin and if you find a better app than this, do share with us in the comments section below.
