People recycle all kinds of stuff, we have featured some intriguing products like toys created from stash of bottle caps and tin cans; life-size sculptures from recycled toys, wallets from recycled ties, clocks made out of vintage vinyl records, notebook made from inner bike tubes, wind chimes from recycled wine bottles, purse made out of old computer keys, furniture made from recycled bikes and our most recent 'seller of the week' Schimmel Gold who upcycles junk mail, greeting cards or postcards to create acrylic mosaic fusion art.

And adding another cool designer to the list, Jason Podlaski, who creates funky furniture that is made out of old broken skateboard decks. "Broken skateboards are a byproduct of our culture usually destined for the landfill." he says

It all began when Jason's brother went to him with his pile of old and broken skateboards asking him to convert them into a piece of furniture. " Looking at the decks, I was inspired by the consistent way they were broken, about 75% of them were broken at the truck and 25% were broken in half." he shares.

All these stools are created in a factory in Pennsylvania, and each stool turns out to unique in itself. The scraps and marks from the original skateboard gives a unique identity and a cool vintage look to each piece of furniture.

"The longer, more abundant 'broken at the truck' decks seemed to be natural legs for the design and the smaller, less plentiful 'broken in half' decks looked like they would made a good seat" describes Jason.
