David Mach, an artist from Scotland creates sculptures of animals, symbols, and historical figures using thousands of matchsticks.
Each sculpture takes months to complete which are created by sticking one matchstick at a time on a clay mold; these color matchsticks are imported from Japan. Apart from creating sculptures of matchsticks, David uses variety of unexpected materials to create a piece of art.
"I like to work in as many different materials as possible. It's no understatement to say I am a materials junkie - jumping from highly-painted cast fiberglass pieces to sculpture with coat-hangers, to a thatched barn roof laced with fiber-optics to designs for camera obscures and layouts for parks." he says.
