Janaagraha, a non-profit organization in India launched ipaidabribe.com to provide a platform for people to report corrupt officials who demand under-the-table money to get some work done.
The website works with citizens and government to bring about a change on how the whole system works at ground level.
The website explains its mission:
You can report on the nature, number, pattern, types, location, frequency and values of actual corrupt acts on this website. Your reports will, perhaps for the first time, provide a snapshot of bribe occurring across your city. We will use them to argue for improving governance systems and procedures, tightening law enforcement and regulation and thereby reduce the scope for corruption in obtaining services from the government.
Users can report their ordeals, view other bribe reports and comment on them or ask questions from the website. This site was launched on India 63rd Independence day and also encourages users to submit stories when they didn't have to pay a bribe and got their work done smoothly and legitimately. Check out some stories here.
