What would you do for $5?
Take a photo, give someone a wake up call, Photoshop for someone, sketch a picture or perhaps give some expert advice. Well, there are numerous things that you could for someone and this site provides a platform for such services where everyone and anyone gets paid flat $5. And of course you could be on the other side of the table and buy such tasks.
A simple yet clever concept where anyone can sign up for a free account and publish the task that he/she is willing to do for $5 out of which $1 is taken by fiverr.com. Its not just about frivolous tasks, you will find some skilled freelancers here who are willing to provide their professional help for a very small amount.
Fiverr's CEO, Micha Kaufman wanted someone to help him with converting a chart from Microsoft Word into Excel and realized that it would be silly to hire someone for such a small task but on the other hand it was annoying to do it by himself. Therefore he decided to create a simple site which can provide a platform for small but important services. "It turns out, a lot of people out there know how to do cool stuff." he says.
You will find writers, editors, photographers, graphic designers, programmers, marketing experts, astrologers or just another sweet person willing to listen to your problems for $5.

Fiverr is brilliant, and if you need proof, look at the host of imitators it's spawned. I love Fiverr because I can find bloggers, graphic artists and folks who have extraordinary talents (ask to see my puppet show sometime).
@Charleen
No kidding. Fiverr recognized 7 Freelance, as their competitor in just 1 week of going live. Reason? 7Freelance.com is a social media for freelancers, unlike Fiverr, which just sounds like social media. Try to make friends with sellers on Fiverr, and your account will be shut down.
Check us out. Just type freelance in google to find us.
@Charleen: Fiverr is definitely a brilliant site and have managed to exceed standards beautifully considering that they are relatively new in the business.
@7 Freelance: Went through your site and love the concept of leveraging social media for freelancing. Won't comment on the competition between the two but its great to see that freelancers have so many options to find clients for themselves...irrespective of the magnitude of the job.
Have you heard of JobsFor10.com? I've actually had a much better experience there than on fiverr... also, 1/2 the effort to earn twice as much.
@e-junkie,
I am a Fiverr junkie, and I personally gig at 7Freelance.com because of obvious reasons... make twice the money Fiverr pays for the same amount of work. Customer only pays an extra $2, which they dont care for enhanced quality service (psst.. no scams on 7freelance like on fiverr, because they have no vested interest in supporting a scam artist, as they - 7freelance doesnt take any commissions.)
As far as bargain hunters are concerned, I would buy a Fiverr gig at Freelance5 forum and buy direct from seller for just $4
Thank you very much, your article is cool!
