Saimir Strati, an Albanian artist creates world's largest mosaics out of nails, toothpicks or wine corks. He hammers thousands of nails or toothpicks on wooden boards to create breathtaking illustrations.
He has his name in the Guinness Book of World Record for creating world's largest mosaics. Saimir drew his inspirations for mosaics as a child, "I look at different things that attract my attention and think of turning them into mosaics." he says.
"I was especially inspired when I first visited the ruins of the ancient town of Apollonia. There I saw leftovers of antique mosaics. I find it really fascinating that some buildings only last about one hundred years, while some mosaics can resist time for more than 3000 years. They are just like skeletons of dinosaurs." Saimir adds.
With immense patience and hard work Saimir has managed to create historical mosaics, his Leonardo Da Vinci mosaic contains nearly 500,000 nails and took 24 days to complete. His other world record Mosaic called "The Mediterranean" is made out of 240,000 wine corks and took 27 days to complete, where his toothpick masterpiece contains more than a million toothpicks. Below images will give you an idea of how massive and artistic his work is.
