Julia van Hees-Aidner drew inspiration for this business idea from pre-teen girl who refused to wear a medical ID for her Epilepsy condition. "This young girl's father was deeply concerned that his daughter would never wear any unattractive medical ID jewelry he found in the market, so how would a paramedic, doctor, flight attendant etc., know what was wrong with if she had a seizure with no family or close friends nearby?" explains Julia.

That is when she realized that there are plenty of fashion conscious women out there who have been diagnosed with some disease but refuse to wear any sort of identification, therefore she decided to create a collection of stylish jewelry for these women who shared similar concerns as that little girl.

Julia who herself has been struggling with few drug allergies and Lupus, decided to join forces with James Marti, a vintage jewelery expert to launch Jewels Et Jim. With years of experience in Public Relations in several high-end jewelry companies, and James's expertise in fashionable jewelery they both designed and manufactured a wonderful collection of medical ID jewelry which according to them "truly fulfills a need in the marketplace."

As per Julia "she and many others should be wearing some form of identification which advised from an emergency contact as well as notification of specific medical conditions such as Crohns, Asthma, Alzheimer's, MS, Lupus, Diabetes, Epilepsy, pacemakers, stents etc., as well as allergies to food and drugs such as peanuts, dairy, shellfish, penicillin, sulfa, codeine, morphine etc."
