Posted: 9/30/2010
There is a huge possibility that social networking giant Facebook and internet telephone company, Skype may be working on integrating their communication services.

With over 500 million Facebook users and 560 million Skype users this partnership may prove to be a huge leap in the internet world.

This partnership is expected to be announced in the next few weeks. Skype has been planning on releasing it 5.0 beta version this October and rumor has it, that this integration just might be a show-stopper feature in the latest version. If this partnership does take place, then Facebook users will be able to sign in with Skype through Facebook accounts and will be able to send text messages, have voice chat and video chat with their FB friends within Skype.

All Things Digital broke this story reporting that "Facebook and Skype Readying Deep Integration Partnership.", and further added that "Facebook's goal, according to sources: To mesh communications and community more tightly together and add more tools to allow users to do so."

Some believe that this partnership is likely to pose threat to search engine giant Google, considering the latest marketing research by comScore which reported that Facebook users have surpassed the time spent on internet by spending 41.1 billion minutes in Facebook as opposed to 39.8 billion minutes spent on Google.

Below is a screen shot that All Things Digital acquired from its sources:

If these rumors are true, then this partnership will surely bring in a whole new level of communicating for internet users. Imagine chatting with your Facebook Page Fans or streaming a live video on Facebook via Skype. There is so much that could be done, provided they stay clear of security lapses and privacy issues.
