Sprout Robot is founded for aspiring gardeners who wish to build their own garden but have little or no idea as to how to about it. It is a brand new startup that aims at providing a well structured gardening schedule for those who register with the site.
Although there are many out there who are still hooked on to Farmville and are content with their virtual farming skills, but the founders of this site still believe in "traditional" ways of farming and sowing real seeds in real soil.
Sprout Robot acts like a web based assistant that tells you what to plant, when to plant and how to plant. While registering with the site the users have to provide them with their Zip Code and then Sprout Robot prepares a calender in accordance to their location, they also deliver seeds to their members when the time is right.
They provide 3 types of plans depending on the size of your garden: Patio Garden, Small Garden and Family Garden priced at $19.99/year, $39.99/year and 59.99/year respectively. And for those who wish to acquire seeds on their own can simply sign up for free and receive timely emails for their garden.
Currently they are providing their services only for U.S. users, but are planning to expand with time, they also plan to translate the site in different languages and hope to build a Facebook integration. Perhaps Facebook users will now start getting their hands dirty in real gardens rather than adopting pigs, cows and sheep in Farmville. "Think FarmVille, but we're actually growing our own food." believes the site.
They are currently on a drive to raise funds to keep their project going and expanding Canada, UK and Australia and also wish to coordinate with expert gardeners from all over the world.
"We've started sending seeds and instructions out to folks, but we're literally down to our last month's savings. We need a little money to keep going and turn this labor of love into a sustainable business." announced Sprout Robot.
We hope that they do manage to raise enough money and kick start their unique business idea that will help in making this earth a greener place.
