When it comes to buying clothes online, the biggest apprehension in a customer's mind is the fitting of the clothing, which in turn affects the sale volume of the seller. Fits.me is an intelligent solution to this problem, it is the world's first virtual fitting room.
Fits.me is a solution developed for online retailers which provides a dressing room and helps the customers to make an informed decision as they can virtually see as to how the clothing will fit on them. It not only helps in improving customer satisfaction but also plays a major role in reducing purchase returns.
How Does It Work?
The customer provides their body measurements like, chest, waist, torso type, height and arm length. Then a robot mannequin comes in to the picture, which adjusts the exact size and shape of the customer.
The shape-shifting mannequin is a robotic torso which comprises of flexible panels that can shift between thousands of shapes and sizes. When a shirt is virtually placed on the robot, a camera captures it cycling through different body shapes and sizes and provides pictures from various angles. So, once the measurements are entered, this new e-tailor shows exactly how a particular clothing will fit the customer. Unfortunately, this magical shape-shifting torso is a guy, therefore fit.me services are available for male buyers only; as of now at least.
"Our technology solves a huge challenge for online apparel retailers and consumers. The initial research trials we've conducted with our Virtual Fitting Room have proven a 28% reduction in online apparel returns, while increasing sales three times over. Retailers can sell more with fewer retuens which directly impacts their P&L" stated Heikke Haldre, CEO and co-founder of fit.me.
Check out the video of how this new e-tailor showcases clothing for customers: Fits.me on YouTube.
So, what do you think? Is this a perfect solution for online clothing retailers?
Hello

Hi,
Thank you for pointing out the error. And apologies for the same.
Hello again
You guys are very quick, thanks for the action.
You need to change the link url also at "Fits.me is a solution developed for online retailers which provides a ....".
Dear e-junkie.info,
I'm from Fits.me and wanted to thank you for the story.
Today 25%, on average, clothes bought online are returned. The reason - lack of a fitting room.
Obviously, Fits.me is only a part of the solution to the problem faced by internet apparel retailers today. A fitting room is much more than just getting the clothes that fit perfectly - in a real life fitting room customers can touch the fabric, combine items, immerse into the smell of the new leather jacket.
Fits.me can only solve one aspect - the choice of the size that fits perfectly. However, 60% of the reasons for returning an item bought online, is the poor fit. "feel" of the fabric accounts for 15% of the returns, and color misrepresentation is the reason at 5-7% of returns.
The future online fitting rooms combine many aspects of brick-and-mortar equivalents, and at this point the sales channels for apparel will be shifting abrutly towards internet.
