Couple of days back we spoke about 'Buzz Marketing", and how important it is for a small business owner to apply word-of-mouth marketing. Giveaways, is one such method that not only spreads the word but also creates curiosity among customers to check out more of your stuff.

How cool would it be to run a business that revolves around 'giveaways', and not just any giveaways but handmade and well crafted freebies. Byhandsgiveaways.com (BH) is a blog that concentrates on merchants who create handmade products and are willing to give them to its readers for free.

So how does the whole thing work?

  • It is a free service wherein a merchant can list his/her giveaways on BH by filling a simple form.
  • Once the blog owner ( Danelle) accepts the request, she will provide the merchant with Adspace on her blog, add the merchant in the 'Feature' segment, promote the merchant on 100 different locations (or, so she claims) and provide a chance for winning a larger Adspace for a longer duration.
  • The merchant has to bear the cost of the freebie and its shipping charges.
  • The 'person' (winner) who will eventually be recieving the giveaway has to participate in a contest. As per rules, the participant has to comment on the merchant's blog/site/shop about their favorite item, promote the merchant through Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Tumblr or Blog.
  • The participants are also given an option to promote BH through various social networking sites; so basically who ever mentions the Merchant and BH the most has a greater chance of winning a giveaway.
And yes, I almost forgot...all those merchants who have their products "only" on eBay cannot become a member with By Hand Giveaways, they have a strict 'NO eBAY' policy.

They sell Adspace as well on their blog, that is where their earnings come from.

This blog is a perfect example of 'Buzz Marketing'; where every body is benefited, right from the blog owner to the merchant and eventually the receiver of the freebie; and everybody feels like a winner.
