The word can literally make or break things in the industry that we function. While being grammatically uber-correct is insane to demand, but there are many jobs that typically depend on being correct or rather 'spelling-out' things correctly. To give a simple example, say the healthcare industry, and so on. This was just a small illustrative example to show how a syllable here or there can turn around human lives.

As businesses, we all get tons of mails day-in and day-out from affiliates to clients to the boss and the co-workers. For the most part, the person who reads them tries to gauge the intent of the person sending a mail.

Typos and spelling errors, though avoidable, just happen. It is an irksome human folly yet tolerable. However, when the sender indulges in a mistake that is purposeful, nothing seems more annoying. Isn't it?

This is not to take a moral high-ground. We as bloggers and content creators also fall in the trap too often. But a few common sense mistakes keep rolling back.

From a professional point of view, it certainly doesn't bode well to have a mailing party who messes up their basics. For one, it forces the reader to typecast you as an outright dumb person.
