When you sell products online you sometimes need to let someone
other than yourself know. Maybe you need to notify a drop shipper who ships
your goods for you. Or maybe you have a partner that you want to notify each
time there is a sale. But how are you going to do that? Your online cart system needs to be notified
of the payment as well, and payment processors do not have a way to send
multiple copies of the notification out.
e-junkie has
solution for this dilemma in the form of our third-party integration
feature. This feature allows you to send
the order data to a third party. Like a lot of our features, this can be setup
at both a common and product specific level.
Lets start with the common setup. This setup will send all of
your order data to the same third party group. In your e-junkie account, on the right side of the Seller Admin page click
on Edit Account Preferences. On the following page, in the Common Notification
URL field, enter in the URL that you want the order data to be sent to, so it
would look like this:
Once you enter the URL, click Submit to save the new settings.
Now, lets move on to adding in the setting at a product
specific level. You will start by clicking on the View/Edit/Delete Products
option on the left side of the Seller Admin page. Once the page loads, select the product you
want to send transaction data to another party for from the drop down menu and
click the Edit button. On the first page
add a check mark to the box for the Send Transaction Data to a URL option:
Then click the Next button to go to the More Options page. On the left side of this page will be a field
labeled Payment Variable Information URL, this is where you will want to enter
in the third-party URL, so it will look like this:
After that is setup, click Next until you can Submit the new
product settings.
You will need to keep in mind that although we do send the data
out, we send it in the same format that PayPal would. The server receiving the
information we are sending needs to be coded to read the data.
There are a number of ways to use the third-party integration
option, instead of just piling them all here, over the next few weeks, we will
go over some of the more popular ones and give you tips for each option. Stay
tuned!
