Katharine Morling is an award-winning ceramic artist who is known all over the world for her work. What's unique about her work is that she creates life-sized sculptures which upon first gaze look as if they are 3D drawings on paper but in reality are sculptures made using ceramics.
Morling first draws rough sketches in her sketchbook and uses them for inspiration. She then starts with molding and shaping the piece using her hands out of clay. Once the piece is complete, Morling using black ink outlines its edges and details giving the sculpture a more 3D paper drawing-like look.

"My work can be described as 3 dimensional drawings, in the medium of ceramics. Each piece, on the surface, an inanimate object, has been given layers of emotion and embedded with stories, which are open for interpretation in the viewer’s mind. When put together, the pieces combine to make a tableau staging the still lives of everyday object," Morling shares on her website.
