Yesterday was National Teacher Appreciation Day also known as National Teacher Day, a part of the Teacher Appreciation Week. The National Education Association describes National Teacher Day  "as a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives" and Google's timing couldn't be better. Yesterday Google launched a new free tool called Classroom.

Classroom makes it easy for teachers to create and assign work, provide feedback to students, communicate with the entire class, and stay organized.

Now teachers will be able to track students and see how they are progressing. You can find this tool in the Google Apps for Education suite.

According to Google, "Classroom is based on the principle that educational tools should be simple and easy to use, and is designed to give teachers more time to teach and students more time to learn."

Using this tools the teachers will be able to:
  1. Create and collect assignments: Classroom brings all Google services like Google Docs, Drive and Gmail to help teachers create and collect assignments that to without any paper wastage. They can check if the students have completed the work or not, and provide individual students direct, real-time feedback.

  2. Improve class communications: Teachers can interact with students, make announcements, and ask questions, everything real-time improving communication both inside and outside of class.

  3. Stay organized: Classroom automatically creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student. Students can see what's due on their Assignments page so that they don't stay behind.

Well, for students Classroom is life saver. No more carrying books around, everything that they need for a particular class is at one place and a click away, no more worrying about losing or damaging your notes and they get to interact with teacher on one on one basis.

The best thing about this tool is that it contains no ads to annoy you or doesn't uses your content and data for advertising purpose.

Starting yesterday those educators who are interested can apply for a preview of Classroom and based on the request Google receives, it'll be inviting a limited number of educators to try Classroom for about a month. By September, Classroom will be available all schools using Google Apps for Education.

Well, I bet all my money on this one. What about you? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
