These self-driving have no steering wheel, accelerator pedal or brake pedal, all these things have been replaced by software and sensors. "The vehicles will be very basic - we want to learn from them and adapt them as quickly as possible - but they will take you where you want to go at the push of a button. And that's an important step toward improving road safety and transforming mobility for millions of people."
First of its kind, this car takes the driver completely out of driving and at the same time this car also focuses on safety.
The car comes with a sensors that remove blind spots and detects objects at a distance of more than two football fields in all directions, which is very helpful while driving on a busy road with lots of intersections. For the first batch of prototypes, Google has limited the speed to 25 mph.
Talking about the inside of the car, it's designed for learning, not luxury so you might not find much creature comforts, but what you'll definitely find inside is two seats along with seat-belts, some space to keep your stuff, a button to start and stop the car and a small screen that shows you the route.
Google is planning to build about a hundred prototypes and would start testing them later this summer with early test versions of these vehicles that have manual controls and if everything goes well Google would run a small pilot program in California in the next couple of years. "We're going to learn a lot from this experience, and if the technology develops as we hope, we’ll work with partners to bring this technology into the world safely". This car can be called up with an smartphone app and would pick up passengers and automatically drive to the destination selected on the app.
Well, this is one huge move by Google as the company hasn't officially announced if it intends to start manufacturing cars or simply supply technology to car manufacturers.
