Well, after the event one thing got sure that Samsung is doing its best to top the smartphone market and after the official unveiling of this watch Samsung has jumped two-steps ahead. The Galaxy Gear smartwatch has received mixed responses from experts and reviewers.

1. More than being a gadget this smartwatch is a fashion accessory,a must-have for the youth today. Stylish and attractive in design this smartwatch is believed to be the new 'fashion icon' atleast according to JK Shin, Samsung's co-chief executive.
2. This Android-powered smartwatch has a 1.63-inch screen and camera with a not-so-fine picture quality, though. This watch would seamlessly connect with the latest Galaxy Note 3 via bluetooth and would let the user make and answer calls, display messages, record videos and click pictures. Everything at your convenience.
3. Call it a no-phone device but the truth it you need you phone so that you can use this smartwatch. That's a real disappointment and adding more to the user misery is its limited pairing option, this device can only be paired with either Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet PC. So if you want to use this device you have to have the above mentioned devices otherwise the device is of no use for you.
4. There are two things to worry about if either you or anyone around you is using this device. Firstly, while you are having a conversation with someone you'll have to lookout for eavesdropper as voices from both the sides can be heard as there is no provision of using an earphone. Secondly, the camera on the side has raised some privacy concern. Just like the privacy issues that Google Glass had same is the scenario with this gadget. Since this gadget has camera on the side the user can click images without the knowledge of the subject. 
5. This is not the first device of its kind. Sony and Pebble have already launched their respective smarwatches in the market few years back and that to lower prices as compared to this device that is $299. So in comparison to the other brands this watch is over-priced which is not a good deal.
