Lately, Kickstarter has become one of the largest and most successful platforms for turning creative and innovative ideas/concepts into reality. This time again we have a cool and innovative concept that was recently launched on Kickstarter - iceDrops.
iceDrops are porcelain based cooling shapes that cools any beverage without diluting it. iceDrops comes in different shapes like X's and O's, Nut and Bolts and Flowers.
The concept of iceDrops is the brainchild of four friends who wanted to enjoy their drinks without diluting down the taste. According to one of its co-founder Jason, "We came up with the idea of iceDrops during a hot summer afternoon at a friend's cottage. We thought there had to be a better way to cool our drinks without diluting them. We were aware of soapstone cubes on the market, but we knew we had to improve upon the basic and rudimentary designs by crafting our own interesting shapes. We also wanted to avoid the softness of soapstone, which we felt scratched too easily and imbued a mineral taste."
iceDrops is not like a regular cooling stone that are readily available in the market that scratches with use and re-use and leave residues, these porcelain based cooling shapes are non-porous and non-imparting.
You just have to put the iceDrops in your freezer for sometime, then put them in your glass and pour over the drink. The porcelain keeps the drink cool for longer without any dilution. Once you're done, all you have to do is to rinse and towel dry them.
Currently, iceDrops is being crowd-funded on Kickstarter. The money raised from this campaign would be used to purchase new equipment and materials to produce the first production run of iceDrops.
Over the last ten months, the company has created and tested hundreds of prototypes and settled on the following designs:
Personally speaking, iceDrops is one hip product apart from keeping your drink cool for long, it makes one ideal gift item. "There is an incredibly broad market for this concept. We see tremendous opportunities in the retail, gift giving and corporate branding segments", shares Jason.
