According to the official blog, "Starting today, Microsoft is rolling out a preview version of Skype for Outlook.com, bringing two great communication experiences together — all in one place!"
This feature was first launched yesterday in the UK and in the coming weeks would also be available in the US and Germany. For the rest of the world, you just have to wait for a few months to use this feature.
By adding Skype conversations to your modern email, Microsoft is creating yet another way for you to connect to the people you care about most.In order to use this service, you'll first have to install a browser plugin that connects Skype and Outlook.com together. The plugin supports recent versions of Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox.
Skype users would be prompted to download the plugin as soon as they pair their Outlook.com account with Skype. Once you install the plugin, you'll be able to make voice and video calls from within your webmail. (Note: This plugin is not required for sending instant messages using Skype on Outlook.com.)
Even with the best email service, sometimes text isn’t enough. We all face those situations where it’s just easier to jump on a call to talk something through. Sometimes that quick call can accomplish more than a long email reply. That’s why we are bringing Skype audio and video calling to your Outlook.com inbox.Presently, this launch is just a preview version and would be updated based on initial feedback.
