1. DIY
DIY projects are a great way to get creative, not only do you end up with something you can be proud of, you’ll be itching to start the next project the second you’re done with the first one.
2. Notebook
Keep a small notebook on you so you can jot down any fun ideas you have throughout the day. And while I know that most mobiles allow you to take down notes now too, there’s something about a notebook that just further stimulates your creativity, which a cell phone doesn’t.
3. Take a Class
Sign up to learn something new, or something you’ve always wanted to know about. It can either be a real school class or a simple sewing or cooking class.
4. Physical activity
Many people say that working out stimulates creativity, but some people don’t enjoy going to the gym and if you don’t then you shouldn’t associate being creative with something you don’t want to do. Instead sign up for something fun that you might enjoy like a yoga class or a rock climbing course.
5. Read
Pick up a motivational autobiography by someone you find inspiring, let their hard work and creativity inspire yours.
6. Relax
Instead of spending your free time away from work watching TV or sitting on the computer, go to your bedroom, put on some music and simply daydream. Daydream works your imagination and the time away from everything else will help you relax.
7. Museum
Go to a museum or art gallery and be surrounded by information and creativity that will hopefully kick start yours into gear.
8. Puzzles
Sudoku and other puzzles stimulate your mind and will get you thinking and looking at things in a different way.
9. Environment
Try working or coming up with ideas in a different space than you normally do. Working in the same place all the time can become routine and monotonous, which is never good for creativity. Why not get away from your desk and relax in a contemporary conservatory or the kitchen?
10. Nature
Go for a walk outside, don’t put any pressure on yourself to come up with any ideas, simply go out to get some peace and enjoy yourself. Bring a book and enjoy the fresh air.
Do you have any other tips for stimulating creativity?
