Working at home may have you thinking that you your credit will be fine. No matter where you are, you are obliged to check it because it won’t be taking care of its own. If you work at home or if you are a freelancer, then you must admit that you do not get your salary on time all the time. And if your salary isn’t consistent, so will your credit be.

  • Your credit report will give employers a sense of your responsibility level in your personal life. If you haven’t checked your credit or have done something for it, clients or creditors will see you as irresponsible and a risk and your clients may think so too because they can also run a credit check even if you are just working from home.
  • Poor credit cannot land you the job that you want. If you do not check your score regularly, errors may get on it and it may ruin your chances of obtaining a new client. You may even lose future activities and even future loan applications if you neglect errors in your credit report.
  • Even if you work at home, it doesn’t mean that you are exempted from credit fraud of identity theft. Thieves don’t choose people; all they want is your identity so that they can run a huge debt on your account with you knowing it. Checking your credit report will help you keep track of fishy transactions early. You can even subscribe to online credit monitoring services, so that even when you’re away, you’ll know the goings-on in your credit; plus, you’ll be notified for any changes in your account like your personal information, exceeded limits and bills.
  •  Check all o the reports from the three credit companies. Some information can show up on one report but not on another, so checking all three reports is vital. You can just visit their website or you can get your free credit report every year. The three credit reporting agencies are Equifax, Transunion, and Experian.

Some actually think that checking their credit report is a nuisance. With all the scanning and going through every detail that you’re going to do, it’ll be all worth it in the end because your credit will be a reflection of you whether you work your home or in your office. Take care of it well and all the “inconvenience” will eventually pay off. No more or less financial problems, a clean credit report and a healthy credit score is what you’ll get.
