Working from home for many folks may sound like the ideal way to earn a living.

Unfortunately if you do want to earn a living from blogging -and many make x thousands of dollars a month doing this, you have to understand that this is a business …a JOB.



It takes many long hours of hard work to create a successful blog and make a living from it.


Do NOT Believe The Hype

If you are only just thinking about making your living from blogging, then the first thing you may be tempted to do is to buy so-called guru products.
These may promise you will make thousands of dollars instantly without doing much work, and they may also say that it’s easy.
Unfortunately…nothing could be further from the truth.
If you have not started your blogging business yet, it is not as simple as it appears to be on the surface.

Lots To Learn

There are many things that you will have to learn, including search engine optimization (SEO), how to build traffic, how to write effective blog posts – and lots of them, and how to build back links.
This one sentence contains in itself probably a month of intensive research and learning, and that learning will continue.

You Need Drive, Dedication and Discipline…And A Life!

Self-discipline is incredibly important when you start your blogging business. It is not something that you can do haphazardly in between watching the television and doing other things. It is a business and like any business the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it, and in this case that would be dollars.
You should also write down your goals, because without a plan you will find yourself wandering off-track.
Once your blog is set up and you have it looking the way you want it, you will have to get into the habit of publishing content at least 3 times a week.
If you used to have a 9-to-5 job, then treat your home business exactly the same way. It’s easy to get caught up in working 12 hours a day towards your success and there is nothing wrong with that. But you must consider your family and your own sanity, so you should also plan days off so you can get away from the computer and enjoy yourself, or you will soon find yourself labeled as unsociable.
