Cookies are little files on our computers that keep a close eye on what sites we visit. It helps advertisers find their target audience, and also helps publishers in providing targeted ads.

In midst of all this, you and me, as a regular web surfer get tracked by sites that we aren't even aware of.

Collusion, an extension for Chrome and Firefox helps us in unveiling those who spy on our online activities.

Here's what the developer from disconnect.me has to say:

"Thousands of companies and organizations secretly collect your personal data when you use the web, creating a shadow web of connections between sites you go to and trackers you probably never heard of."

Collusion seamlessly displays a map of all the sites that are somehow, somewhere tracking our online behavior.

Have a look at the image below:

The app in no ways disturb your regular surfing session, only when you click on the collusion icon on the address bar of your browser, will it display a map that looks like the image above.

The image is highlighting the sites that visited by me (blue circles), sites I didn't visit and are tracking me (red circles) and sites that may or may not be tracking my activities.

Although there's nothing much that we can do about these sites, because frankly they are following us so that we can be presented with relevant advertisements. But when you look at the map on Collusion, you will at least be aware of all the sites following you.

Check out this demo video below:

After learning all about Collusion and taking it for a spin, I've come to one conclusion that:

'When online, you can never be alone!'

Installing Ghostery goes an awful long way to stopping this and it's free.
