Bluff Cam has the capability of measuring the heart rate of poker players, thereby helping them in achieving that perfect 'poker face'. It uses a technology called 'Vital signs camera technology' that displays whether a player is under pressure or not during a game. It detects micro-changes in the color of the player's skin.
This app can potentially take a player's bluffing skills to a whole new level.
According to Daniel Cowen, Director of Communications of Bluff Cam, "The app has already been endorsed by Pro Poker players, including William Reynolds, Professional Poker Player and winner of the 2010 PCA High Roller Championship."
Using the phone's camera, a player can easily measure his/her heart rate, which can help them remain calm and composed, even when their cards are a Royal Flush.
This app has recently been launched by WowWee Inc., exclusively for Apple products, namely, iPhone 4 and 4S, 4th generation iPod touch and iPad2 and above. One can download this app from Apple's App store for $0.99.
It also allows users to take notes to keep track of their progress, take screenshots and share results on Twitter.
"BluffCam gives players that added edge over their opponents, helping them understand how different poker hands can affect them physiologically." shares Sydney Wiseman, Creative Director of BluffCam. "Its easy-to-use design and added features like the player 'notebooks' make it the ideal poker companion for anyone looking to stay cool when it counts most."
BluffCam was created by support from another interesting app called 'Echoer' (that we recently featured on our blog), along with 'Integration New Media'.
The app also plans to release 'BluffCam: Table Edition' that will help players analyze their opponents' heart rates. This can hugely help players in figuring out his/her opponents heart rate, and how they can cope under pressure and also watch out for patterns. My only question here is, whether such a feature will be ethical in the game of poker or not? Do share your views in the comment section below.
