Bullets are symbolic to violence, whereas David Palmers' bullet portraits are a symbol of tribute. A tribute to known people like John Lennon, Abraham Lincoln and John F.Kennedy, who tragically endured bullets that ended their lives.

Palmer believes in looking at good in everything and everyone, therefore creating something beautiful out of something ugly has been an inspiration for his creations.

"I have chosen to use serve my purpose because of the  blatant and emotionally charged response they evoke.  These mediums already have a strong  mental imagery that is attached to them.  Around the world they are still used to either help build dreams or destroy the dreamers.  My hope is that you will feel the agony and  then see the miracles that can arise from choosing to create rather than destroy." shares Palmer on his website.

The portraits are created by collecting bullet casings, that are later put together on a metal canvas, Palmer then uses heat of a torch to created intricate shadows of lines and furrows to create the portrait. Palmer, like a true artist describes this process in a very poetic style:

"The  heat and light of the torch reminded me of purifing strength that is forged by fire while simultaneously illuminating altruistic philosophies and new concepts. The individual's I have chosen are a  testimony to the fact that man's loftiest endeavors are often brought  about at a cost that is high."
