If you are running small online business, you might know that it is not possible to do all the work by yourself.

You have two choices; either to hire an employee or outsource the work. Both methods have their advantages but I have always preferred outsourcing over hiring an employee.

Here are my reasons to go for Outsourcing:


1. Outsourcing Options

I like Outsourcing because there are a lot of options. For a small work ,you can get many vendors, many price options. So I can always choose based on my requirement and budget. There are many online site which helps in outsourcing like Fiverr (outsource at as low as $5), Freelancer, Elance. You can check each one of them and delegate the work to any vendor you like. For small yet important activities like creating small intro videos, I always go to Fiverr. For other things like creating graphics, landing pages or website design work, I look up to freelancer or Elance. You can post your job on both the sites and give your work to the best proposals.

2. Outsourcing Tasks

One major benefit of outsourcing is that you can outsource almost any work. There are many things which I can do but I would like to utilize my time in better places like writing guest posts to promote my blog. So I do outsource many small tasks like creating accounts, writing news releases, etc. There is some risk involve as you need to know vendor before hand or you should do your research before giving the work. Most of the sites provide customer reviews, you can refer them before deciding on the vendor. I like to work with my trusted vendors, if I have worked with somebody and have the same kind of work, I will repeat the vendors. This will give some comfort while outsourcing.

3. Outsourcing Duration

When you try to hire an employee, you need to have a pipeline of work. If you have extra work for any short duration like you need a hand in holiday season, you can’t hire an employee but you can outsource that work. The work which you want to outsource can be of any duration, it can range from few hours to few months. I know most people will say why outsource a work which can be done in few hours? Because in that few hours you can do some other productive work and usually that few hours outsourcing is also very cheap.

4. Termination

One other benefit with outsourcing is termination, if you have an employee you need to follow certain guidelines based on your country before terminating them. With outsourcing, those many restrictions are not there. The contract is over as soon as your work is over, also there will be ways to make sure work is done with quality and it is up to your satisfaction. If you want to do anything else, you need another contract. So what are you going to do - Outsourcing or hiring employees?

    I have to agree with you. Outsourcing is not just for large companies but most especially for small businesses. You pretty much summarized all the benefits of outsourcing. However, not all companies who outsource find great results. You need to be very careful on deciding because you might just waste money and time more than you intend to. There are things to consider to make outsourcing successful. If you don't have a clear idea how to do it right, then you have to study, do some research and learn some techniques.
