YouTube has recently announced launch of 'The Merch Store' that will allow YouTube partners to sell digital downloads, concert tickets or merchandise to their fans through their YouTube channels.

YouTube is undeniably a huge platform for musicians and considering 800 million people visiting this site every month, this latest development will open doors to numerous opportunities.

YouTube announces that other than allowing  artists to sell tickets, merchandise and digital downloads, it will also let both fans and artists experience meetups.

These features on YouTube's Merch Store are brought to you by affiliates like:

Topspin: for merchandise, concert tickets and experiences.

Songkick: for concerts.

iTunes: for music downloads.

Amazon: for music downloads.

“We'll be rolling out the Merch Store to music partners globally over the coming weeks.” announces, Christian Weitenberner, YouTube's Senior Technical Account Manager.

An interesting move by YouTube will transform the way music artists use their channel for distributing their music. “Whether you're the main event, the opener or jamming from your living room, we want to give you the chance to find an audience and make your music career on YouTube.” says Weitenberner.

YouTube will be hosting an information session and panel on October 20 (Thursday) at Mercury Lounge in NYC. If you are interested, then you can RSVP here.
