If it wasn't for Google, there would've have been a huge void in the internet world. Its not just Google search engine that makes our lives easier in numerous ways, but also other popular and much needed services like Blogger, analytics, maps, documents, YouTube, Chrome, Picasa, Gtalk, Gmail, AdSense, translate, Android and many more.

Google has a perpetual habit of experimenting with new things, for this they have their very own laboratory: Google Labs. There are many products in there that are still in their beta stage, but every now 'n then Google decides to pull out some refined products from their beta stage and launches them officially.  Google Inc. also likes to acquire innovative services, websites or applications and brings them under their umbrella to make them a part of Google family, culture and ideologies.

We found many interesting services and products that have been either created or acquired by Google, you may be familiar with some of them but we are sure you will be happy to learn about all of them.




GOOGLE GOGGLES





















Google goggles is a nifty mobile app that uses image recognition technology enabling you to use images rather than text for your search queries. All you need to do is take a picture of a text, landmark, book, wine bottle or logos and this application will display results accordingly. Its quite an impressive product, check out the video below to learn more about it: 




GOOGLE SKY






















I am sure most of us are aware of Google Earth, but not many people know of Google Sky. A service that lets you explore and learn about the universe and its countless mysteries. You find positions of planets and constellations, and also stay updated with latest happenings in the sky through podcasts. "We have teamed up with astronomers at some of the largest observatories in the world to bring you a new view of the sky." they say.





GOOGLE FAST FLIP


















For those who like to read news regularly and conveniently must check out Google Fast Flip that combines digital and print news articles and presents them as 'flip' through pages on your browser. You can browse through news as per topics, recency, popularity and blogs; you can also get a mobile version of Fast Flip. "It also enables users to follow friends and topics, discover new content and create their own custom magazines around searches."

BOUTIQUES.COM


























Boutiques.com is an interesting marketplace for both designers and shoppers, a place where you can find products based on your own style and preference. According to the website it, "lets you find and discover fashion goods through a collection of boutiques curated by taste makers - celebrities, stylists, designers, and fashion bloggers. Boutiques uses visual technology to help fashionistas discover and shop their look and creates the opportunity for designers to showcase their collections and latest inspirations online."





GOOGLE TV























Google TV is a perfect blend of television and internet, that lets you watch your favorite show and browse favorite website in one gadget. "This opens up your TV from a few hundred channels to millions of channels of entertainment across TV and the web. Your television is no longer confined to showing just video. With the entire internet in your living room, your TV becomes more than a TV - it can be a photo slideshow viewer, a faming console, a music player and much more." A place where television meets internet.




GOOGLE CRISIS RESPONSE


























This is a project by Google.org that aims to bring critical information and resources at the time of crisis like natural disasters or humanitarian crisis. Through this service Google organizes emergency alerts, updates, essential contact information and donation information, and makes this info easily accessible on the internet. They also build tools such as Person Finder for better communication, provide satellite images, and maps of affected areas for better navigation in disaster zones. "The Google Crisis Response team assesses the severity and impact of a disaster and determines whether or not Google is able to uniquely contribute tools and content to response efforts." Google's efforts during Japan crisis are commendable and a perfect example of this service.


GOOGLE SCHOLAR

























If you are doing some serious research on the internet, then Google scholar can turn out to be quite handy since it doesn't produce regular Google search results but brings your scholarly literature. It indexes reviewed quality articles from academic publishers, professional societies and renowned online journals. "From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities and other web sites."

PANORAMIO



































Panoramio is a geolocation based photo sharing service that lets you upload photos of your favorite places or explore images from all over the world. Its aim to bring a better understanding of a particular place through photos takes by people who live or traveled there. The website also provides an API enabling you to add a widget to your website or blog to display photos from Panoramio.
