How long has Fitness Revolucionario existed? What is the origin story?
I started the Blog 3 years ago. It started as a personal quest for a more authentic approach to health, away from all the supplement pushers and gym membership sellers.
With scientific research and practical experience as main tools, I started to question the conventional wisdom in many areas of our health, and the results people had in their own lives was an enormous incentive to continue to work on this.
What makes what you deliver unique?
Most ideas about health are not rooted in real science, and many run counter to our biological make up. When you start to question the evidence of many of the modern recommendations of food and training, you realize they have been manipulated to favor specific interest groups, or the science behind them is so weak that it doesn't really hold up. Humans are meant to eat what we have eaten for millions of years, not modern packaged food that comes in a box with a health claim. Humans are meant to train using our body and natural movements, not using gym machines that isolate our muscles in artificial trajectories. People following low fat diets and using gym machines fail most of the time. I offer a new way, a more natural way, a better way.
How do you market yourself and your business?
I've done very few promotions. I've based my strategy on high quality content, for real users, that's what really ranks well in Google. Word of mouth and people sharing my articles with friends has been the best help.
How has your sales/marketing strategy changed over time?
It hasn't changed much. High quality content remains the key, though I spend a bit more time on social networks than early on.
How did you go about designing and creating your site?
I try to keep it simple. I use wordpress and hired a designer to adjust a standard theme and some plug-ins. I want the content to trump everything else.
What do you think an online business has to do to stand out and be competitive?
There are different strategies you can use to gain traction, but my recommendation is to focus on the fundamentals, on writing good quality content for real people instead of trying to "game" Google or obsessing over "vanity metrics" (like facebook fans or just traffic).
What has made you successful?
I think the willingness to think differently, to not follow the herd and the standard ideas, but to think outside the box, question everything and think about the long term. And ultimately, trying to package my knowledge and experience in high quality products people can buy.
What is the best advice you’ve received about selling
online?
Be very clear about your ideal client. You can't serve everybody. Having people trust you is the biggest asset. Don't lose people's trust to make a quick sale. And have a mailing list!

If I were planning to start an online business from scratch,
what would you tell me to do to prepare?
Focus on the content. Be patient, it takes time to build something remarkable. Engage with your readers and care about them. Design products that will help them.
