A good book should have effective content. Effective content should be: to the point but highly informative. How to make your content best? Below are the tips that help to create your content outstanding:

1. Do a good research

Once you choose to write on a particular subject, do a good research to gather as much information as possible. Try and get new information to the maximum extent possible. Copy all those information gathered into a Word file. Add up any other related information from self-experience, which is highly valid.

2. Make an outline

Make an outline prior to writing based on the information gathered, in order to get the content fit under respective headings/sub-headings. Get the headings and sub-headings framed appropriately and place relevant contents under the headings.

3. Write the content

Write a good introduction on the subject. The introduction should be written in such a way, that it puts your book in a nutshell. Then, take up to work on the actual content. Go through the information gathered under each heading carefully and get the ideas flow in your own style, informative, descriptive and concise.

4. First Draft – Concentrate on Content

Writing out the content should take place first, which means, putting in your ideas. At this stage, you need to focus only on the content and the way of presentation – you need not even bother to check for mistakes, which could be done later. Do not be in a hurry to write the content. Take enough time to think over and write the content. Do not also sit continuously to write the content, as you may feel tired and thus get disturbed. Spare 1 to 2 hours in a day, especially in the morning hours, as your mind will be fresh after a good night's sleep. Wake up a bit early in the morning, finish your morning routines, have a cup of coffee and begin to write with a fresh mind. Depending on your physical as well as mental ability, you may write for 1 or 2 hours per day. Once you complete the content part, keep the file - the first draft, saved in your computer for about a week. Do not think about your book during these days.

5. Second Draft – Check for Errors

After a week, open the file and start going through the same with a clear mind. Concentrate well and identify all errors, spelling errors, grammatical errors, etc., and correct the same immediately. Read out the sentences and check if the framings are done well enough. If not, make the changes immediately. Remove unwanted sentences/words and make enough alterations to have the content crisp. Add any new ideas, if available. Again, keep the updated file saved as a second draft in your computer.

6. Make the final draft error-free

The final draft, that is going to be your book, needs to be thoroughly edited, cleared up to be without any mistakes. Go through at least twice, leaving enough hours in between – may be, you can go through once in the morning and again, before sleep. Once you are satisfied with the content, stop! Do not send it to the service provider for conversion into eBook - there is still one more thing to be done – give your draft to one or more friends, who are good in editing (preferably, to those who are professional editors), to check and highlight changes, if they spot. Once this is done, incorporate the changes accordingly and proceed with formatting your eBook.

Conclusion

It is not only enough to have a well-written content for your book. You also need to get the content formatted nicely and the output should be reader-friendly, enabling the readers to enjoy reading in any reading devices of their choice.
