Yesterday late at night, Google revealed that it is building a domain registration service called Google Domains, a product that is still in its early stage and for now is invite-only beta.

Google started working on this product after conducting a small research that revealed that 55% of small businesses still don't have a website, "so as we explore ways to help small businesses succeed online, we thought it made sense to look more closely at the starting point of every business's online presence - a website. And that starts with a domain name."

Once Google Domains is launched to public, users would be able to search, find, purchase and transfer domains for their business through the service, so "whether it's .com, .biz, .org, or any of the wide range of new domains that are being released to the Web" and unlike other domain registration services, Google won't charge you anything extra. And you can create up to 100 email addresses on the domain and 100 customized sub-domains.

"We also want to make sure our customer support and infrastructure works flawlessly, and that we have the right additional services. We're working with some of the top website building providers like +Shopify, +Squarespace, +Weebly, and +Wix.com  to help make that happen," the company shares on its blog.

If you're interested in trying out Google Domains, head over to Google Domains, click on "Manage My Domains" in the top right corner and then simply follow the instructions to request the invite code.
