Photography, a profession, a passion or a hobby for some. But it always takes a great deal of art to click a good photograph. It is like capturing a moment, forever.

"Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world."
- Bruno Barbey

To make a photograph successful or to get recognized its real worth, it needs to reach more and more people. The art of photography requires and deserves to be seen by the mass. Nowadays, with all the social networking sites with their increasing popularity are offering a great solution to that. All a photographer needs to do is make an account and upload the photographs. The rest will be taken care of.

But the question rising here is which one among all the sites is the best to be selected as a platform to promote one's photography. Facebook is, of course, one of the best known sites to build social networks. The other love of photographers is Instagram. Well, it is always one's personal choice about which one to go for, but a little discussion on the topic would cause no harm and in fact would bring up the various reasons for the preferences into notice. This in turn can help newer talents to take their next step. Read on to know the views of various photographers (in alphabetical order) on the same. Don't forget to check their portfolios and have a treat to watch!

Adam Bradshaw

Adam Bradshaw is from Bradshaw Photography, an Ohio-based company. The style is focused on capturing those real moments in time. One can find amazing photographs of weddings, engagement, seniors, family, newborn, toddlers, and more in the portfolio.

"Both forms of social media are very important to me as a photographer. It is free, and your work can be showcased all over the world! They are both special in their own way. With Facebook you can more easily target potential customers in your area, and you can post large amounts of photos at once. With Instagram, if you post good quality work that appeals to a large amount of people, and tag them properly with hash tags. There is potential to become so called "Instagram famous" where you can gain thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of followers, with great potential for customers to come your way. Unfortunately this is no easy task, unless you are a celebrity, or a very attractive person who post a lot of "selfies"... So in conclusion the best social media site for photographers in my opinion is Facebook... For now."
Agnese

She claims to be most often focused on individual gesture and expression which could be coaxed from a subject but never demanded. It is merely a matter of waiting and a luck. She loves to show the public the real world around to teach that all the emotions are natural, as well as it does not matter if you are poor or rich - we make the world together, we make ''the life''.

"The reason why Facebook is better for photographers than Instagram is because of some good benefits which could be faced only in Facebook.
Firstly, Facebook offers the option to share your photos, therefore you can easily be noticed with your artwork by other people through the shares. In contrast, Instagram does not have this possibility at all.
Secondly, Facebook offers the other chance to be seen by others - if someone "likes" your picture, it may appear on his/her wall, and it is another good option to your marketing.
Thirdly, Facebook offers an opportunity to go worldwide. They can promote your page, so you are able to connect with more people. This, of course, costs you, yet it is worth it. These are the main reasons why I prefer Facebook marketing than Instagram."

Antonio Zaribi

He is a portrait and fashion photographer. Photographs by Antonio are sure to hold your gaze. The sense of angle and the minor details clear in the photos make the viewer enjoy viewing the pictures.

"Well I advice for Facebook to promote my photography as it contains more options to reach me,and post opportunity and for me to reach others and see their work ... as for more, I have the option to add the business page as it gives me an advantage on Google search engine. Well that is my advice for more professional SEO."

Cenk Karacin

An established photographer whose pictures are a pleasure to watch. They are soothing and touch the chords of the viewers' heart. His pictures capture the  regular daily life as well as special moments of life like that of one's wedding.

"I'm using my Instagram account as a small project containing the photos only I took and retouched on my smartphone. So I don't really use Instagram for promoting my whole photography portfolio. I believe Facebook is the better option to display my actual work. Also Facebook has better options for the people who wishes to contact me."

Chris Burkard

His website says it all, "Chris Burkard is a self-taught photographer and artist whose work is layered by surf, outdoor, lifestyle and travel subjects. His images are punctuated by energized landscapes and moments of bliss, by adventure seeking and the lifestyle that ensues, by movement and intuitive light-working capabilities."

"I am more fond of Instagram because it is more focused on photography and it also breaks down the barriers between photographer and their audience for better engagement.  Instagram seems to be more mobile and instantaneous.  It is a great source of inspiration to see what others are up to in their lives and their work.  I love to bring my followers along with me to the different locations I visit.  It's a reward for me to be able to inspire others and bring them images of places they may only dream of.  It's an exciting app and I love the community involved in it."

Christopher Schoonover

He is a photographer, well versed with the art of photography. His photographs often contain a concept and a touch of exploring the various dimensions of vision. Each one is very interesting.

"I would say Instagram is better for promoting the images themselves, while Facebook may do a better job of promoting your photography business. It all depends on where you have more followers. Instagram is where people go to find images specifically, and It's easier to work in an area where there is demand. Personally, I've had more success promoting myself with Instagram, but I'm not sure I would write either social network off completely."

Debora Kristanti

Her photography generally have different and more of a funky approach. They are really fun to look at.

"I choose Instagram, because now days Instagram is more interested than Facebook, and you can search anything you looking for by the hash tag, is more easier than Facebook. As a photographer i enjoyed post my portfolio in my Instagram. And i can see who following me and who loves my artwork."

Joann

She says on her website, "My passion turned into a creative outlet during my visit to Paris where I fell in love with the city, the language and the food. I wanted to document and share all the wonderful things I experienced in this great city, and that’s when I knew to turn my passion into my work."

"For me, Instagram has been a much better platform to promote my photography. Instagram is a photo-based application; it's much easier to browse and search based on hash tags. Users are also using the application because they have an interest in photography. When you follow someone on Instagram, their photos will always show up on your feed. Facebook, however, is more selective and filtered and thus not everything shows up on the news feed. Whenever I post the same photo on Instagram vs Facebook, I always receive a broader reach, more likes, more interactions on Instagram."

John Gunn

He has been a professional action, and landscape photographer for more then ten years. He first started photographing surfers in Malibu, California when in college.

"I actually use both to promote my products / artwork.  I use Instagram to get my work seen quickly, and Facebook to have more information and links to my website available for the viewer. I think by using both, more customers will be seeing my work and hopefully making a purchase."

Kyuhyung Kim

A Korea based photographer with modern ways and concepts to click pictures. Instagram is more like a gallery than Facebook.

"I don't say that Facebook is not good for photograph things.I just say Instagram is gallery + SNS. Because there is thumbnail system on Instagram.I think you know that I use several SNS. I feel like Facebook is more based on human network than photography.Or all kinds of art. Music, Movie, drawing....As you know, we can upload short video on Instagram but I think people prefer photography. That's why I prefer Instagram."

Manny Librodo

Named by Scott Kelby as one of the FIVE BEST PHOTOGRAPHERS of the world in 2009 (that you probably haven't heard about) - multi-awarded and internationally published photographer -conducts workshop all over the world.

"It depends on where you have the most number of followers. For me, it is Facebook. The conventional me still hasn't really penetrated Instagram.  My word of advise: don't spread yourself so thinly."
Nichole

Nichole is a writer, photographer and bestselling author of Paris in Color (Chronicle Books, 2012). In 2009 she moved to Paris, rekindled her love of photography and began work on The Paris Color Project, which later became a series of prints, paper goods and a bestselling book. "Right now, I am using Instagram more than Facebook. Facebook recently tweaked its algorithm, so fewer fans are seeing posts. Organic reach has plummeted, and these days you have to pay to play (boost posts and buy ads). Instagram on the other hand, is naturally a great platform for photographers, and it's easy to push from Instagram for other platforms like twitter and Facebook, so it's a win win."

So by now you must have framed an idea about the preferences of the photographers on present date. It would be great if you share yours too with us in the comments section below.
