Late Wednesday night was a night of celebration at Yahoo as it officially unveiled its new logo. Yay!

According to the official announcement on the Yahoo blog, Kathy Savitt, Yahoo's chief marketing officer shared, "We wanted a logo that stayed true to our roots (whimsical, purple, with an exclamation point) yet embraced the evolution of our products."

Yahoo's month long '30 Days of Change' campaign that started on 7th of August created a lot of buzz all over the internet. Yahoo had then announced that until the launch of its new logo it would everyday unveil variations of its now-old logo.

The redesigned logo has been exclusively created by Yahoo's own company design group and product designers. With the same color and exclamation mark the redesigned logo looks very similar to the old logo.

According to Bob Stohrer, the Senior VP of Brand Creative, "We wanted something that represented the sophistication and elegance of Yahoo! today, while still bringing forward the hallmarks of the brand that people have come to love."

Yahoo's CEO Marissa Mayer also shared her excitement on her personal blog.
"We hadn't updated our logo in 18 years.  Our brand, as represented by the logo, has been valued at as much as ~$10 billion dollars.  So, while it was time for a change, it's not something we could do lightly."
