The BIRTHDAY just got more social and special.

In quite an offbeat style, to integrate social media to a outgoing experience on a person's birthday, the Brazilian eatery - Outback Steakhouse and a local ad agency Lew'Lara\TBWA has come up with a Outback B-Day Chair.

Outback Steakhouse is a popular restaurant in Brazil, known for its delicous menu offerings. In this latest addition to its restaurant's architecture, a birthday person was invited to adorn this comfy chair with a little starry bling to it. What does it exactly do?

Once the birthday boy/girl occupies the chair and instantly connects to their Facebook account, the chair automatically hugs them as new wishes come pouring in. Moreover for each of these hugs, the 'person of the day' gets to click these huggy moments and share it on their Facebook account.

For cynics, the B-Day Chair is an epithet of a virtual hug , devoid of human touch and a almost peacock move as the pictures of the act go live on Facebook too. But does that really matter to the people high on fun? Naah!

The Chair is a simple product developed to cater to a basic human need of being hugged and wished on their special day. If its happening with a little pomp and show, all the more better. Truly Digital Age style! Moreover the birthday person no longer is left bereaved in the absence of a close friend/relative who is absent for the occassion. The virtual hugs is but a small compensation.

The founders, having seen the initial positive response for their product idea, plan to make installations across restaurants all over Brazil by the end of 2013.

It's a little bizarre. But then who wants a protocol birthday celebration. So get set to try out this latest digital fad on your birthday if you are around Brazil. Others, can also look to enjoy the joys of virtual hugs by ordering the Chair.
