In an extremely outrageous and over-the-top sellout ad campaign, Craigslist just hit a jackpot and lost it too in the same go. Thanks to a certain Nate Walsh.

Nate Walsh, a small time copywriter from St.Louis is a connoisseur of DIY arts and wanted to sell his '99 Toyota Camry, which he dearly calls "The Tanry". His came into limelight last week with his bang-bang Craigslist advertisement, to be sold at a throw away $1500. This totally set a new sell out benchmark for the online directory.

The overwhelming response to his sell out campaign came when bigshots like AdWeek and Jim Romenesko spotted it and flagged it as not worthy of professional standards. Craigslist eventually had to pull it down from its portal.

A disappointed Nash commented that "the site offered no explanation outside of a reference to its robust Terms of Use page". When questioned as to what could have possibly brought on this mass flag down, Nash opined that the apparent reference to this "ex's" in the ads might have triggered an opinion.

In the headshot of the ad, Nash cited 3 of his past girlfriend's reviews of the car experience. However, Craigslist was caught unaware as it posted the ad listing freely on its site. But the uproar and disapproval by Friday, forced them to pull it down. But the visibility had been achieved says a happy Nash , who's been receiving calls from interested parties

The air of curiosity has been created on a ad that was just blown out of proportions. Now Nash is truly basking in glory of his recently found limelight. In fact, he wants to take this hoo-haa around his Camry to the next level by announcing a contest of sorts to pick the best suited person for his car.

He says "It could be anything from a talent show to a contest where people have to act out a short skit about the car, or maybe an Amazing Race thing where the first person to get here with the money gets the car. I don't know. I just figure the ad's so weird, it should have some weird ending too."

Well all that begins weird, certainly ends weird. Best of luck to the poppinjays who are ready for the showdown !
