Since the 80s, the tech developers have attempted to bring out workable calculator and digital watches. The past decade has produced imitations of poor quality, attempting to synergize the working of wrist watches with computers. The MetaWatch, Sony's Smartwatch, Motorola's Moto ACTV and WIMM are a few notable ones in the market right now.
But 2012 has been a year of honest innovations in digital technology. Success or failure is a different story though.
Apple has kept up its commitment towards innovation by floating this new project. The Smart Watch is capable of connecting with the Apple devices via Bluetooth. Tech Crunch writer, Jordon Crook mentions that "Intel will be working with Apple to develop a 1.5-inch PMOLED display made by RiTDisplay with ITO-coated glass... Low-power Bluetooth 4.0 makes wearable connected tech more practical, and with Apple’s design touch and software ecosystem". Apple is set to carve a niche in the Smart Watch market.
There has been no official statement from Apple spokespersons till now. Analyst Gene Munster is betting on Apple to breach the "wearable computing" concept in the near future. Innovations are ushered this way exactly and Apple is a veteran in terms of scaling unknown territory. The Smart Watch is still an unfamiliar commodity with not much of a market. For one the technology involved is complicated and its not budget friendly if the target audience is the youth. However, keeping in mind Apple's track record, rumors are enough to capture the imagination of the people even before a product materializes in actual.
Hope this endeavor turns out to be successful as well. We can only wait and watch.
