Nowadays, many people are using videos as a tool to market their products or services. Videos that offer some kind of value to the viewer can be very powerful marketing tools.

Getting started

To shoot a video, you will obviously require a video camera. This could be a camera phone or a cheap digital camera. However, if you want to create a professional-looking video, you’ll need to spend more to get a quality video camera. In addition, you may also need to invest in video editing software, as well as lighting.

Before shooting any video, you need to decide what you want the video to be about. For instance, if your objective is to popularize your company or brand, you could shoot a video.

  • Demonstrating how your product is used
  • Answering frequently asked questions
  • Discussing your industry
  • Offering product tips and tricks
  • Giving viewers a tour of your facility
  • Showing your employees having fun

Strategy

Make sure your videos offer content which is engaging, authentic, as well as relevant. The idea is to ensure that people get to watch your videos, whether it is a funny clip that will remind them of your brand, or a solution to their problem. Good video marketing can help you build trust and loyalty in your product.
If you are going to appear personally in the video clip, make sure you write an outline or script. This will enable you to remember exactly what you are supposed to say and reduce the awkward pauses in the clip.

Optimize

When editing your video, remember to include your company or business logo and name at the start and/or at the end of the clip. Once it is ready, upload it on as many sites as possible including YouTube, Viddler and Vimeo. Make sure you place the video appears in the proper category (interviews, products or vlogs). The more places your video appears, the more exposure it gets.

When you upload your video on any site, take advantage of the keywords, title, caption and description sections. Use the relevant target keywords in your description of the video. Remember to include a short summary of your company or business, as well as a link to your site. All these will enable you to achieve a higher search engine ranking.

Share

Once you upload your video on different sites, remember to also post it on your blog or site. Include social media widgets that allow web users to share it on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, StumbleUpon, and other social networking and bookmarking sites. You can start by sharing it yourself. In addition, you could also have a link to the video in your newsletter. Remember to monitor the amount of traffic you are receiving from each site.
