The image on the left is not of an actual elephant, nor is it a drawing or an illustration, it is in fact an incredibly detailed chair created by Maximo Riera.

The Animal Chair collection consists of designs of various animals like a walrus, an octopus, a rhino and the most recent, an elephant. Riera uses technology to make sure that every detail in his collection is more than perfect. He first creates a 3D sketches, feeds them into the computer, and using mechanized tools, the sculpture is replicated with utmost precision.

"The process certainly allowed the artist to accomplish a superb level of detail and authentic texture." describes Riera's website. Maximo Riera is an artist whose interests lies in photography, painting, sculptures and poetry; his work is mostly inclined towards abstract expressionism.

Here's what he has to say about his Animal Chair collection, "Each creation retains the animal's natural vitality whilst being totally biological accurate in their appearance. This collection is homage to these animals and the whole animal kingdom which inhabits our planet, as an attempt to reflect and capture the beauty of nature in each living thing."
