Can you explain to our readers the concept behind Origami? What inspired you to develop this product?.
Folding a stroller should be easy. Parents have far more important things to worry about, so how fold their stroller should be the last thing on their minds. After seeing countless parents struggle with strollers, we thought, "why not let motors do the work?"
What are the safety features that are embedded in Origami?
-Built-in weight sensor (so it won't fold with a child in the seat).
-Two-step fold process (turn the dial, then push the button) so you won't do it by accident.
-Daytime running lights to increase daytime visibility.
-Pathway lights to illuminate obstacles at night.
-Reflective piping.
-Zero pinch points: the Origami's cantilever design eliminates traditional pinch points.
One of the problems with strollers is that it is difficult to lift and stash the stroller (say in the trunk of a car) once folded. What has been been done in the design of the Origami to mitigate this problem?
The Origami collapses into a very small, compact shape when it's folded, and either of the stroller's rear legs makes a great place to lift from, distributing the weight evenly and making it easy to stash in a car trunk or closet.
What is the idea behind having a LCD screen in a stroller?.
The Origami has built-in generators in its rear wheels to keep its battery charged as you walk, so it's always ready to fold. Once you've got that power available, why not use it to give parents handy information? The LCD displays a thermometer, speedometer, battery life indicator, lifetime and trip odometers, and the child weight sensor (so parents are reassured by seeing the stroller knows their child's in the seat). You can even plug your cell phone into a jack above the LCD and charge it as you walk!
Often children just refuse to be seated in a stroller. Does Origami have something to distract their attention so that they remain seated in the stroller?
We haven't seen this problem with the Origami - kids love it! One of our tester's children called it her "bobot." The lights, the unique design, the spacious and comfortable seat, all seem to make kids feel interested and at home.
How has the Origami been received by your customers?.
They're really excited about it! After seeing pictures and videos of early models for many months, they can't wait to get the real thing.
How has been your experience selling online? In what ways has eCommerce helped you in selling your products?
It's been very positive. It's important to make the buying process easy for customers, and eCommerce lets you have your web store a click away from your informational video and website. We also make it easy for customers to find stores near them from our website, so however you'd like to buy, it's simple for you.
What has been the biggest compliment that you have received for your product?
"It makes me want to have a kid!" We actually hear that a lot, and we never get tired of it!
What are your future plans for the product? Are you working on any modifications or enhancements?
We've got several accessories coming out in just a couple of weeks: the cell phone charging cord and handlebar bag attachment for additional storage, a car seat adapter that lets you snap on an infant car seat to the stroller frame, and color kits, so you can customize your Origami's color.
What message would you like to convey to our readers?
It's great to have your product considered "cool," but it's more important that your product meet a real need. We were careful in creating the Origami to make sure it's not just great-looking but practical too.
