As a professional blogger, sometimes it’s hard to peel yourself away from the keyboard. But, like anyone with a 9-5, there are times when you need to go on vacation or get away for a few days. Moblogging gives you the opportunity to keep up with your blog, while still getting time away from the monitor.

What is Moblogging?

Moblogging is the technical term for mobile blogging, aka blogging from your phone. For the avid blogger, this is an easy way to keep up with content and readership while getting away from the computer for a couple days. There are many different ways you can do this. You’ll simply need to choose the platform that is going to work best for you.
  • Blog app: Some blogs, such as Wordpress, offer an app directly attached to the site. For free, you can download the application, and upload posts and photos exactly as you would on the computer. You can also create pages, edit them and more.
  • Text message: Blogger offers a text message service, in which you can text your post and photo to BLOGGR and it will be uploaded right then. There is a process to go through for initial setup, but can still be helpful to keep new content churning.
  • Email: Posterous offers email as a way to post new articles and photos. You simply register your blog, and have immediate access.
Why Use It?

I don’t have to tell you that a popular blog can’t be neglected for more than a day. Readers come back every day for new content. Responsible for half your success, you always want to keep them reading. Still, going on vacation is a necessary break from the mind numbing strain of writing day in and day out. Moblogging is an easy way to tap in and out without having to sit down at your computer every day.
  • New content: Being able to keep up with posts will keep readers happy, and content flowing.
  • Build your trip into the blog: Moblogging can give you a reason to incorporate the trip into you’re blog. This can give your blog dimension, and have potential for a mini-series.
  • Creating community: Regular readers and frequent commenters get to know your writing, and each other. The goal of keeping a blog is to build a community around your content. Keeping loyal fans filled in on highlights of the trip will add to that.
Blogs Made For Moblogging

There are some blogs that fall right into the hands of mobile blogging; sites that will flourish with short snippets of different content. If you fall into one of these categories, it’s an especially good idea to blog remotely.
Real estate blogs: As a real estate agent, your blog followers would find great benefit in seeing homes from other countries or states. This gives you credit, as you have a cultured eye, and piques your customers’ interests.
  • Car blogs: If you blog about cars, this is a great opportunity to add unique content to your site. Foreign cars intrigue the faithful car fan.
  • Travel blogs: This one is an obvious. Being able to update your blog in real time will give your readers more to look forward to.
  • Budget blogs: Someone who writes about living on a budget can take this opportunity to discuss travelling on a budget. With the ability to update every day, you can give an accurate account of budgeted travel.
Moblogging is great for any full time blogger. You don’t have to neglect your readers, your sanity or vacation time. Use Moblogging to add exciting new content to your site, and give fans something new to look forward to.
