Alejandro Duran is a Mexican-born New York based artist. His ongoing project 'Washed Up' is a perfect example of the stupendous art not at the stake of environment but for the good of environment. The project started in February 2010, and focuses on the issue of plastic pollution.

Mexico's largest ecological reserve and UNESCO World Heritage site, Sian Ka'an, Mexico, has a vast flora and fauna and is also the world’s second largest coastal barrier reef. But unfortunately, it is also a home to world's trash carried there by ocean currents from every corner of the globe.

Feeling disgusted by this fact and state of the beach, Duran took up this initiative to collect trash floating in from 39 nations on 5 continents. He, then created color-based and site specific sculptures out of it, and it looks magnificently stunning.

Not only that, Duran has created a photo series where he has collected products washed ashore from 42 nations and 6 continents. But before giving you a glimpse of it, let's have a look at the Washed Up massive sculptures:

This project by Duran has really evoked my environmental sensitivity and before buying or discarding a plastic product, I will surely give it a thought. What about you?
