Running your home business can be stressful. Sure you have the freedom to take a break whenever you feel but in reality you have clients to answer to and work that can’t be put off. So what do you do when you have too many projects going at once, tons of stress baring down at you and a clock constantly ticking in the back of your head...

I’m here to help.

Here is a list of tips that will help you get the most out of your home business by reducing stress, helping you create higher quality work and find time to do things for you again.

One project at a time

We all have this natural urge to get multiple things done at once. With the rise of the internet came the rise of multitasking. The problem is that this can produce lower quality work and in the end we tend to take LONGER to get anything done.

Instead of multitasking try slowing down and working on one project at a time. Work on that project from start to finish then move on to the next one. By focusing 100% of your attention on the one thing you’ll find that you produce higher quality work and you actually get it done faster. It’s a win win.

Add fun things to your to-do list

To accomplish the first task you’ll probably have to create a to-do list. This is a super important part to creating that list: add YOU time to it.

You’ll find that as you go through a to-do list for a day it’ll grate on you. While working on one project all you have to look forward to is more work. It’s strange that our lists always contain only work and things we don’t want to do.

Instead fill it with things you want to do. For example, start it with an article you have to write. Then after an hour of working on that you HAVE to watch a movie. After that you’ll work on another project, then you have no choice but to play video games for an hour.

You’ll find that when you have something fun to look forward to you’ll work harder on the things you don’t want to do.

Work Time, Home Time

When you work from home sometimes the work can take over your life. This can lead to depression, huge amounts of stress and generally is bad for you. Which is why you absolutely must make a clear barrier between the two.

This means you need to set hours of operation and hard rules. For example you can work between the hours of 9am and 5pm. After that you will not accept any work related calls or do anything work related.
By doing this you’ll spend more time living your life and enjoying the money you work hard to make during the day.

Add some life

It’s crazy how well this works but when you add something alive to your work area it changes your entire mindset. By having a pet fish or some plant life that you have to water every other day you’ll feel more positive. The room will feel brighter and you’ll feel less stressed.

Studies have shown that life in your work area will reduce stress and because of this you’ll produce higher quality work.

Simplify everything

Life is complex enough as it is. One of the easiest ways to reduce stress and clear your mind is to simplify your work area. Get rid of needless clutter. Get rid of the stuff you never use (seriously, when was the last time you used that stapler) and make your work area as simple as possible.

The less distractions you have the easier it is the focus on what your doing. In fact studies have shown that people feel more stressed in a cluttered area than a clean one.
