In mythological terms, Egg signifies beginning of something and in many cultures it is believed to be the source of the universe. When an egg broke into two halves, the upper half became the sky and lower half became the earth; the yolk became the sun, moon was formed from the shell. Sounds quite poetic, and therefore a perfect inspiration for artists.
I found these three incredible creations from one of the most fragile canvas an artist can work on.
KYLE BEAN
Kyle is a Brighton based artist who specializes in hand crafted models, his intricate chicken sculptures from egg shells are part of his series called: "What Came First?"
Although it doesn't answer the question...but sure brings in an ironic prospective.

GARY LeMASTER
Gary is a magician who can create miracle-like art from egg shells. His work is so detailed and somewhat unbelievable that it made me wonder if its for real or is he using some sort of plastic or ceramics to create a replica.
As it turns out, I was absolutely wrong, he uses all kinds of eggs, from Ostrich to Emu, from Goose to Ducks; and also gives carving classes along with all the necessary equipment required for such beautiful art work.
These images are just the tip of the ice berg of what all Gary can do with an egg shell, visit his website to check out more of his work.
NOSIGNER
An artist who prefers to be a 'Nosigner' rather than 'Designer', for he believes in creating "invisible nature of design". According to him, it is the invisible intangibility that brings value to a design.
As far as his egg shells art is concerned, his creativity is clearly visible through his one-of-a-kind lamp design. According to him, "Egg shells can be a very good material. They have beautiful shape, good structure, and they are biodegradable. Egg shells are fragile, but we can make a stronger structure by using them together in a larger shell form. The form can distribute the weakness to the material."
This is just one of his many creations, visit his website to check out some more designs by Nosigner.
