Early this year, TweetDeck, one of the most widely used Twitter client released a service called Deck.ly that lets you send tweets longer than 140 characters. Although Twitter's charm lies in short and crisp messages, but there are times when 140 characters is not suffice to let your voice out; in such a case you can use Deck.ly.

Not only can you send lengthy messages, but also embed videos and images with them. When this tweet is viewed on other platforms, a deck.ly link will be attached at the end of the tweet which will contain the entire message. Other users can also comment on the tweet.

Check out the video below for a short demo:

"What we're doing here first and foremost is delivering on the most requested feature we've ever had. Our users want to post messages over 140 characters and this is one feature we thought we should build ourselves. I don't see how this draw anyone away from Twitter, it value-adds Twitter - something we've been doing since day one." Iain Dodsworth, TweetDeck's founder and CEO shares with The Next Web.

Deck.ly updates are supported by TweetDeck's desktop, Chrome and Android version, but is not available for iPhone or iPad yet. Check out an example of Deck.ly here.

There has been a mixed reaction to this service, while some think that it will ruin the concept of micro blogging, whereas some believe that it can prove out to be quite useful as far as social interactions are concerned. What do you think?
