This one-of-a-kind portrait dedicated to the legendary Jimi Hendrix is created by a British artist, Ed Chapman.
It was auctioned in London for a fundraising event for Cancer Research and was sold for 23,000 pounds. And this is not the first time Ed has dedicated one of his creations to a musical legend and raised money for a charitable event, in 2009 he created a ceramic portrait of John Lennon and that was auctioned for thousands of pounds as well.
This particular portrait is created out of 5000 plectrums not made from any random guitar picks, Ed has specifically used Fender guitar picks, since Jimi was known for playing Fender Stratocaster.
Here's what the artist has to say about his masterpiece:
"I'm very happy to have raised so much money from something that was fun to make. Jimi is a guitar legend and nobody played a Fender guitar quite like him. I decided to use plectrums to create a portrait of him because I like experimenting with different materials and textures and I think its is a fitting tribute."
