Katie Thompson, an interior designer from Cape Town has passion for recycling discarded junk into something extraordinary. Her creativity and innovative approach transforms old suitcases, buckets, umbrellas, bottles, hat boxes, typewriters, even bottles into a piece of furniture, lighting or interior accessories, that retains its antique charm while bringing a whole new life and functionality to it.

Her designs hugely reflects South African influence that she gained during her graduation from Design School of Interior Design in Cape Town.

"By blending South African craftsmanship, with high end finishes and her own eclectic perfectionist flair, Katie creates an original end product with a new integrity that epitomizes the very best of South African design." describes her website.

What we loved the most from all her creations are her "The Suitcase Chair" products that are reincarnated from old rugged suitcases and come to life with high-class alluring upholstery, a whole new functionality and a design that is bound to strike interesting conversations.
