Google has recently updated their social search engine by introducing information integration from Twitter, Flickr and Quora...leaving Facebook out of the picture; at least for now.
Google Social Search was launched in 2009 that combines search results your online social circle in Twitter, Flickr, FriendFeed and even bloggers. A feature that can be found in Google labs that displays regular search results along with results from your social circle at the bottom of the page. With this latest update, it will now produce social search results prominently through out the page.
"Social search results will now be mixed throughout your results based on their relevance (in the past they only appeared at the bottom). This means you'll start seeing more from people like co-workers and friends, with annotations below the results they've shared or created." explains Mike Cassidy, Google's Product Management Director. Further adding, "We've made Social Search more comprehensive by adding notes for links people have shared on Twitter and other sites. If someone you're connected to has publicly shared a link, we may show that link in your results with a clear annotation (which is visible only to you, and only when you're signed in)."
For example, you are looking for Tiramisu recipe on Google and one of your friend has shared a link about it, you will be able to see an annotation that your friend has 'shared this' along with the result. Users can choose to connect accounts with their Google profile publicly or privately.
