Twitter has recently been valued at $3.7 billion and has raised $200 million in venture capital, on the same day Twitter decided to let the world know that now they are  ready to get down to do some serious business and released a revamped model - "Twitter For Business".

"We've seen tremendous growth in the creative ways businesses and organizations are leveraging Twitter, and we want to make sure you have access to their great ideas." explains Twitter in a  blog post.

Their latest Twitter for Business site provides following info:

Starting with the basics, Twitter provides information what exactly this micro-blogging site is all about along with glossary terms, best practices a business owner must follow to leverage its services fully, using Twitter on various gadgets and very useful case studies; along with loads of widgets (follow me, logo, tweet and retweet buttons). For those who wish to create applications that can be integrated with Twitter can do so through this link.

What we found to be most interesting is their 'Stay in Touch' form where businesses can fill in a tiny little form and provide some basic info about their business. Originally this service was available for selected accounts only, but now every business owner in the world can let them know about themselves and receive useful information in return. For small businesses Twitter has rolled out a page with even more tips and practices that can help small business owners in spreading their business via Twitter.

And when we say that Twitter has decided to get down to do some serious business, we are pointing at their emphasis on their Advertising project which perhaps will be the key for Twitter to become the next Google or Facebook of internet. What they call "most engaging innovative ads on the web" consists of:

Promoted Tweets, which are offered on a Cost per Engagement (CPE) basis, according to which you'l have to pay whenever a user retweets, replies or selects your tweet as a favorite.

Promoted Trends, which is a very interesting way of engaging a community in a conversation by placing a Trend related to your business at the top of Twitter's Trends list. This section is currently in beta, but if you wish to be notified about its progress then you can set up a notification through this link.

Promoted Accounts, comes in 'who to follow' section where Twitter recommends users to follow based on an individuals interests. "Following is one of the strongest, most loyal forms of affinity online-a new follower is asking to receive each Tweet you send in their timeline. Unlike a "like" action, a new follower stays with you." explains Twitter.

Analytics, will provide a detailed report for your promoted tweets, trends and accounts displaying info about number or impressions, retweets, clicks, replies and followers.

Twitter is undoubtedly a great resource for harnessing the power of social networking, lets just wait and watch if users find their 'Twitter for Business' model useful and productive which might take the largest micro-blogging site to a place which is hugely dominated by Google and Facebook. What do you think?
