Whenever Facebook introduces changes in its design, people usually don't take too well; it's no different this time either.
In an interview with CBS news, Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the new Facebook which lays a lot of emphasis in photo sharing and creating 'groups' in which one can bifurcate their friends list into groups like 'college buddies', 'best friends', 'tennis club' or in whichever way you prefer. Facebook wants it to make easier for people to 'tell their story'.
Mashable decided to take a poll and put an end to the debate of majority people liking or disliking the latest design.
29.31% loved it, 16.27% hated it, 15.09% find it okay but prefer the previous version and 22.82% people don't really care.
So, here's an overview of changes that you will experiencing on Facebook very soon:
Your profile page changes with your basic info at the top and tagged images featured below them so that 'people know what you have been up to' lately.
The left column will show your friend's list in the way you choose to segregate them. 'Wall', 'Info' and 'Photos' tab are not on the top of the page anymore, they are now featured vertically in the left column. 'See Friendship' feature takes you to a page where you can see all the things common with a friend including pictures that your been tagged together in, mutual interests and friends. You can also view friendships between others in your friend list...everything common and conversation between any two people in your friends list. 'Infinite scroll' feature allows you to browse all the photos within one page.
As we said earlier, people are not taking it too well and if you see this post on Facebook's blog you will notice that in the comment section most people want their original Facebook look back; but like always, everyone will crib about it and eventually get used to the new version and if Facebook redesigns itself again (which most likely it will) same viscous circle will prevail.
You can try the new look through this link, but let us warn you that once you decide to change the current design for your profile...there is no looking back. By early 2011, Facebook plans to roll it out to the entire world. Check out the video below for a visual overview of Facebook's latest design:
